Parks and Recreation

The Town of St. Michaels provides and maintains many beautiful public lands, some with water views, some with playground equipment, and some with athletic facilities. Visitors to our parks can enjoy quiet or active pursuits in our maritime environment.

Frederick Douglass Park
Downtown, at corner of Talbot & Mill Streets
Landscaped seating area and information kiosk about Frederick Douglass who lived as a slave in the St. Michaels area from 1833-1836.

Great community playground with swings, sandbox, water table, wooden play boat, and play structures for kids of all ages.
Also has gazebo, picnic tables, trails, and public restrooms.

Back Creek Park
At end of W. Chestnut & W. Chew Streets
Water views of San Domingo Creek with pier and kayak launch ramp.
Home of the Wilson “Bill” Shook Memorial Bridge, a covered bridge over the tidal creek.
Small toddler playground, picnic tables, NS benches.

St. Michaels Nature Trail
Walk or bike this 1.3 mile trail over San Domingo Tidal Creek via covered bridge.
Park and start at either end: Bradley Park off Railroad Ave., or the larger parking area across the street from the Bay Hundred Swimming Pool.

Perry Cabin Park & Sports Complex
710 N. Talbot Street
Recreation facility includes baseball/softball fields, basketball court, and concession stand.
Great large playground, with climbing structure and swings, for all ages.
Has covered pavilion and public restrooms.
20 acres.
Maintained by the county.

Wilson Reading Garden
Located next to the St. Michaels Library at 106 Fremont Street
Benches, patio area, and rain garden.

Community Garden
Located next to the St. Michaels Library at 106 Fremont Street
Wonderful community partnership, with 40 garden beds available to rent for $5 per year. Children, seniors, amateurs, Master Gardeners, and enthusiasts of all ages grow for themselves and to share with others.
